Capricorn Szn Insights
a whole new world. no cap.

The Winter Solstice-- the shortest day of the year. It is a quiet time that lends itself to inner reflection. The stillness, the space for contemplative self-awareness can feel like a million bricks on your shoulders if you’re someone who shies away from such undertakings, but if you lean into the opportunity to know yourself on a deep, intimate level, it can be a doorway to the life you’ve always wanted to lead!
Lifestyle is the name of the Capricorn game! The sign is associated with lifestyle, and in a capitalist paradigm, that is perceived as one’s career. Of course, your career is a huge component of your lifestyle. It affords you your lifestyle financially, and it is how you spend most of your time on a day-to-day basis. Their adherence to a way of being is what makes Cap’s great at branding, marketing, and creating structures. All of this may hold true but to minimize Capricorns to being workhorses who only care about material gain is dehumanizing. Any analysis of the sign that excludes their tremendous capacity for emotion, powerful sensitivity, and strong sense of integrity is incomplete. The sea-goat powers through any climate, regardless of what challenges may be presented to them.
This tenacity and willpower is enviable, but not when it serves to drive us to the brink of wellness for the sake of material gain.
Capricorn’s ruling planet of Saturn is not really known for being super understanding. It’s a planet that’s pretty heavily associated with harsh judgments. This comes as no surprise as the sign is associated with bones-- not just literally, but metaphorically as well. Capricorn is associated with foundations, structures, boundaries. In the every-day world, this can be translated as rules and regulations, so as a reader, I associate Capricorn heavily with justice-- more so than Libra, in fact. But as hard as Saturn-ruled folks can be on others, they’re much harder on themselves. The inner life of many a Capricorn is a whirling dervish of chaos and confusion that is belied by their put-together exterior. While this may seem great in a superficial world of appearances, there are a lot of reasons that we want to lean away from this energy.
The astrology shows a heavy stellium-- a conglomeration of at least 3 or 4 placements in a sign-- of karmic placements in Capricorn at the start of this season. As the sun transits into Capricorn it joins Jupiter, the South Node, Saturn, Pluto, and the Part of Fortune. The Sun and Jupiter occupy the first house while the other four placements sit in the second. A six planet stellium is no joke. Though we think of Capricorn-- cardinal Earth-- as being grounding, such a massive concentration of this energy can leave us feeling depressed. When we are too focused on the appearance of things and aligning it with the social norms that have been impressed upon us, it can sap us of any form of joie de vivre we need to lead enjoyable lives. And what is joie de vivre if not gratitude? For this sign, a negative aspect is the idea that nothing is ever enough. But such a mindset is the framework of an ingrate, and we know that when working with manifestation, a space of gratitude is the optimal space to be in.
Popular astrology encourages us to lean headfirst into the sister sign of any placement where we have a stellium. This is not always the case-- each chart is different and needs to be handled with unique care-- but for Cap Season 2020 it is very accurate. Cancer is a sign of compassion. It’s a sign of going forth and spreading love and serenity. For the past year, we have had the North Node in Cancer, calling us to embody compassion in our lives more and more each day. This has been a humbling process that has stripped many of us down to our most vulnerable selves. In a world that has taught us to be cold and unfeeling, being forced into embodying our authentic truth as sensitive creatures is certainly reflective of that upending Uranus (retrograde) in Taurus energy we are experiencing.
In this time, we are being called to feel our feelings, allowing ourSelves to be consumed and transformed by them. We are being called to have compassion for ourSelves enough to forgive ourSelves for the ways that maybe we fell short of standards for ourSelves, and to have that same compassion for others. We are being called to forgive-- to free ourSelves of the past pain that has been tethering us to the same narratives, the same lifestyles that we are so tired of and dissatisfied by.
This winter solstice is time to allow harmony into our lives, and this comes from allowing ourselves to experience it. We have been through the pain, the peril, the trials, the tribulations, the suffering, the confusion, the hellfire -- we have been through it time and again. Aren’t we ready for balance to be struck? When we have more hurt than we have happiness, we are due for some joy. We are due for some peace. That is what harmony looks like when we have been living a life that is so skewed in one direction -- completely shifting to the other side. For this season, it requires allowing our emotions to flow. It requires being authentic not only for objective truths but emotional ones as well. And it being Capricorn season, yes, it will be so challenging. But it will also be so liberating.
We reap what we sow-- Earth signs know this all too well. When we are not moving from Alignment with our Truth, we are sowing the seeds of inauthenticity that will bear bitter fruit and sour grapes. “Why aren’t my manifestations working? How is that I got what I asked for but I am still unfulfilled?” Did you ask for what you wanted? Or did you ask for what the world told you you should want? Did you ask for something that you thought would prove your value to others but that doesn’t actually resonate with your truth? Did you deny what you actually wanted for fear that it would make you less acceptable, less worthy? A tragic Capricorn misstep-- thinking that anyone in this world, in this life is unworthy. We are all innately enshrined with immeasurable value. Each of us a tiny concentration of the stuff that the stars are made of, the same enterprising spirit that creates and destroys worlds-- that is literally us! How, then, can our value be contingent on any material thing, anything shaped by society? Our true nature outranks society-- our true nature IS nature! It predates these social norms, these codes of conduct that shift moment to moment, generation to generation. Our true nature is that of the infinite, and we are deserving of embodying it and living that truth every single moment of every single day of our lives!
This season has been one of surrender-- surrendering our preconceived notions, our bad bones, our bad blood, our faulty foundations, that weak links. This season has been one of surrender, and it comes to a head now. The moon is conjunct Mars in Scorpio, standing in opposition to Uranus in Taurus. Uranus is retrograde, squaring Venus who recently transited into Aquarius (still occupying the second house). Venus squares the Moon, creating a triangulation of contentious energy that demands our personal power be recognized, not simply by others but mainly ourSelves. That comes with acknowledging that which makes us unique without allowing ourselves to wallow in shame about any facet of who we are -- accept it and transcend it. Otherwise, let it go! Chiron now direct in Aries encourages us to give all the love we give to others to ourselves. With Arian-ruler, Mars empowering Scorpio and vice versa, we are reminded that our power in this life is our sensitivity, without which we would be lost. It is our body’s way of communicating with us and such intuition truly is a gift. As we celebrate this time of generosity, open yourself to receiving the gifts that the Universe wants to bestow upon you and open yourself up to the life you’ve always wanted but never gave yourself permission to have.
I love you all truly + dearly.
HAPPY HUNTING!
