Treat Your Vulva to the Poetic Rumblings of the Minna Limon This Valentine's Day

Toward the end of 2019, when the Sad Girls Club editor asked if anyone wanted to review a new vibrator, I immediately responded: “I do!!” That’s because my history with vibrators has been limited to the two I’ve purchased since college. (I know, sad.) In theory, I love them, but I haven’t invested enough money or time into finding the perfect one. So, when a Minna Limon was gifted to SGC, I was quick to volunteer myself to try it. What a sacrifice, right?

We scheduled the dropoff on an evening when I had to be in Brooklyn for my friend’s (and former crush, TBH) going-away party. I knew I would have to explain why I had to make a quick exit to meet my editor, so I explained that, technically, I was getting a vibrator delivered. Everyone had a lot of questions.

Once my editor and I successfully completed the dropoff, I immediately showed my friends the beautiful packaging. They were so excited that, once I was out of the room, they took the Limon out of its packaging and started playing around with it. Since I was going to wash it anyway, I was only minimally repulsed—but I was also happy that my friends were taking an interest in my writing (even if that interest was only due to the fact that I had a vibrator delivered).

I had to go to the west coast for the holidays, and though I accidentally left the vibrator in my bag, I knew I’d have to wait until the new year to put it to proper use. Then one morning before logging on to start working, I figured it was as good a time as any to try it out. I took the Limon out of its box and promptly set aside all of the instructions, out of excitement to get started. Since I wasn’t too invested in reading about the *proper* way to get to vibing, I began playing around with it to find what felt good.

I like the size of the Limon, which fits more easily into my hand than my previous go-to vibrator. It’s soft, pliable, and perfect for longer-term use. When you simply play around with pulse and intensity—instead of recording a pattern, which I learned after is also possible—you have more control over the experience and how long it takes for you to get to where you want to be. (To orgasm, obviously.)

While I was testing out my new little vibe, I enjoyed trying out different rhythms to find what worked best for me. (I liked how it felt so much that I even ended up switching what I was watching in an attempt to find the perfect companion to my new device.) What I found worked best for me was a lower intensity vibration and varying pulses—which you have complete control over, depending on how hard and when you squeeze it. The variety allows for more self-teasing and holding off when you orgasm, both of which I’m a fan of.

All in all, the Limon far and away beats my standard vibrator. It has more options for vibration and intensity—and it gives you easier access to the pièce de résistance: the clit (it doesn’t seem well suited for intravaginal use). I also liked that it was more subtle than the average vibrator (the website calls it “rumbly” instead of “buzzy”). If you’re in the market for a small, cute, powerful device for clitoral stimulation, I highly recommend it.

So, whether or not you’re a fan of Valentine’s Day, take the opportunity to give yourself a sexy little treat that I’m pretty sure you’ll love. (Plus, if you have a partner you want to play around with, you can use it on them or have them use it on you, too!)
